Kim Toskey

CEO

Kim Toskey is an attainable housing advocate and leader. She currently serves on the boards of the Northwest Community Land Trust Coalition and the Housing Consortium of Everett and Snohomish County, in addition to launching Homes and Hope Community Land Trust (CLT).  Previous board experience includes more than 11 years on the Washington Homeownership Resource Center board--four of them as President, as well as serving on the Boards of Washington Low Income Housing Alliance, Habitat Snohomish, Parkview Services and her faith community.

Prior to retiring from pay in 2017, Kim worked more than 16 years as a mortgage lender, specializing in layered financing and first-time homebuyers. Both Fannie Mae and Washington State Housing Finance Commission (WSHFC) recognized Kim for her outstanding achievements in affordable lending.  In 2009-12, Kim served as a consultant with Fannie Mae and the National CLT Network to improve access for CLT homebuyers to mainstream mortgage loan products; she also assisted the WSHFC and numerous CLT organizations across the country with understanding CLT mortgage parameters.  Based on her work, Kim was selected to attend a national roundtable discussion at HUD Headquarters in Washington DC regarding shared equity homeownership. In 2018, with the help of an experienced Start-Up Committee, Kim and the newly formed Board of Directors incorporated Homes and Hope Community Land Trust to bring permanently affordable homes to Snohomish County.  Community-based, permanently affordable homeownership is Kim’s expertise and her passion.

In addition to her nonprofit work, Kim and her husband own a small portfolio of rental properties, and Kim is the property manager.  Half of their tenants came through government referrals and more than half were homeless at application.  Kim has lived experience with homelessness, and as a young single mom, was dependent on government subsidies to cover expenses; this history informs their tenant screening and application policies.

Kim has a Bachelors’ degree in Math Education from University of Alaska Fairbanks (‘96), which is where she met her husband. Together, they enjoy traveling, renovating houses, gardening and spending time with extended family.
